Ministry to Children
We want the children of our church to know that Five Streams Community Church is their church too! So during our worship service the children have a time where they come up front and have an interactive time of teaching with our pastor. The lesson is usually based on the same scriptures the adults will hear during the Homily (brief sermon).
Children like to move. So during part of our worship service, children have the option to go to the back of the sanctuary and have an interactive and supervised time of worship using hand held scarves.
Before the Homily, younger children have the option of going to a classroom for a brief time of supervised bible lessons and play. Our teachers use Bible blocks, Bible books, and songs. On warm days the class may sometimes go outside to the church playground.
Common Houses/Bible Study Groups
Common Houses are small groups that periodically gather together for friendship, prayer, and scripture study. They can meet weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, or seasonally. The word "common" is one of the ways the Greek New Testament word "koinonia" can be translated. So Common Houses are places for the people of the Five Streams community to have "Koinonia": "Communion", "Fellowship", "Participation", "Sharing."
